Hi, I’m Harvey

I’m a teaching assistant in a primary school in the UK. Shinku Studio is where I share classroom doors, displays and bulletin boards that look good, go up quickly and don’t cost much.
Every post comes with a simple supply list and a few practical tips from working in a real classroom.
How the images are made
Seeing it before you build it
Most of the images on this site are visualised with AI. I use them so you can see an idea finished before you spend an evening cutting out snowflakes, and so I can show you far more ideas than I could ever photograph on my own walls.
The ideas and tips come from my own time in classrooms, so they’re things I’d actually put up.
The name
真空
Why Shinku?
Shinku (真空) is Japanese for empty space. For me it describes that moment at the start of every term: a clean wall, a bare door, a room waiting to become somewhere kids want to be. It’s also a reminder that calm often beats busy. The best classrooms I’ve worked in weren’t the most decorated. They were the ones where every display had a reason to be there.

For brands
If you make classroom supplies, decor or learning resources that teachers genuinely love, I’d be happy to hear from you. I only recommend things I’d be glad to see in a real classroom, and I’m always open to thoughtful collaborations.
